Do you need high quality carbon as reinforcement for concrete mix or plastic? Chopped carbon fibre is the ideal choice due to its good mixability and dosage.

Carbon fibre is cut in a variety of lengths and is most widely used in a few main applications:

  • Forged carbon fibre.
  • Compounding and compounding for injection moulding
  • Composite concrete

Forged carbon / BMC is not only a structurally but also visually interesting composite material. Each part is an original. The combination of epoxy or other reactoplastic (formerly thermosetting) resin and carbon fibre creates an excellent combination of mechanical and other properties. In the case of hot curing at higher pressures, the mechanical properties of both basic and engineering aluminium alloys can be easily overcome. Another nice feature is the low overall weight, so the parts are not only stronger but also lighter.

Chopped carbon fibers are well suited for compounding with various thermoplastic matrices. The possibilities range from basic polypropylenes (PP), for which they increase the mechanical properties many times over, to polyamides (PA), polycarbonates (PC) and other engineering plastics, to high-performance hi-tech plastics such as polyetheretherketone (PEEK), polyphenylene sulphide (PPS) or polyetherimide (PEI). By combining these superplastics and carbon fibres, we achieve the strengths of automotive steels.

Composite concrete is a building material reinforced with a strengthening element - for example, carbon fibres. It is a composite that has been known for years. Historically one of the earliest when clay was combined with plants. Today, we have moved on to talk about concrete bonded to carbon, glass, basalt or steel, or even plastic fibres. With the right formulation and processing, we can again obtain excellent properties, reduce the consumption of concrete, create thin-walled products or achieve leakage or a certain electrical conductivity. It depends on the form of the fibres, their content and other components in the composite concrete.

The fibres are usually supplied in lengths in multiples of 4mm. It is possible to cut to other dimensions upon agreement.

3mm is the minimum length for chopped carbon fibre.
